Hi there! I’m Driftygal. Aside from my main hang, Driftyland, I write here about the personal projects that shape my writing, my rituals, and the life I’m building. “Magic Icelandic Crab” is my avatar, reflecting my astrological sign (Cancer) and some creative lore (my big adventure all started when I quit my job and went to Iceland).
Today, I live and work in Philadelphia. If you like travel, thrift, and navel-gazing, you’ll love it here. I’m also a graduate student at NYU pursuing a dual masters in Food and Library Science.

In 2012, I did a bucket list blog that launched my writing career. Since 2019, I’ve worked off a list that combines my love of travel, writing, wellness, and all things hippie-dippie (or as I call it, Doritos for the brain). There are certain things that are precious and off-limits. I may sprinkle in sparse details about my personal life, but when I do, I’ll use metaphors and pseudonyms to keep the things I love and people I care about safe. So take everything with a giant grain of salt.

i didn’t blog from 2024 – 2026.
In 2024, I took a long break from blogging. I wasn’t sure how much of myself I wanted to share online anymore. When I decided to relaunch, I migrated some content from my old site. But for the most part, I’m starting from scratch.

i’m not super active on video apps
I love TikTok (and the like) but I’m not a content creator in that sense. I make a quarterly printed zine and work on these sites, but aside from that, you’ll probably only see me occasionally on social media. It’s partially out of wanting some parts of my life to just be for me, and partially because I only have so much time to create in my day to day life.
